£250.00

New York: The Museum of Modern Art.. 1968.

Exhibition catalogue. 240x210mm. pp. [2], 216, [2]. Illustrated throughout. Embossed illustrated metal binding designed by Anders Osterlin after a photograph by Alicia Legg. The unusual and celebrated binding is in excellent condition and internally the book is near fine.
This the catalogue to accompany an "exhibition dedicated to the mechanical machine, the great creator and destroyer, at a difficult moment in its life when, for the first time, its reign is threatened by other tools". It was a very wide ranging exhibition beginning with Leonardo da Vinci and ending with early computer art. Thanks to its striking binding, this has become one of the most famous exhibition catalogues.
