Original brown buckram with crossed sword motif in gilt with the motto “the sword also means clean-ness + death”, spine lettered in gilt. Original dust-jacket in excellent condition with only very slight soiling but protected by a plastic wrapper. Internally very good. The plates (which include work by William Rothenstein, Augustus John and William Roberts) are in superb condition. Overall this is an very nice copy of one of the great military autobiographies.
